Concert Strings
Composed of both junior high and high school students, the Concert Strings will perform repertoire at the beginning/intermediate level. The orchestra will focus on skill and technique development such as shifting, bow control, and sound production. There will also be a strong emphasis on basic music theory including key signatures, counting rhythms, scales, and the beginnings of musical expression. Placement in this orchestra does not require any experience if you are willing to work hard and a willingness to challenge yourself to reach the next level of musicianship. We strive to create a positive learning environment where students are encouraged to venture out of their comfort zones to create beautiful music. They will have four concerts a year and several competition opportunities for students who are interested. Auditions will be held in the spring and fall (for students new to Benjamin Franklin) and posted at the beginning of the school year. See the Handbook for further questions
